Flukes, not flu. Classic inshore flounder report

August 31, 2018

Our first flounder trip of the year for Kevin and I, and we didn’t leave the house until after 9am. We launched late and then spent the next hour gathering live baits. Once we had a decent amount, we then headed to multiple inshore areas to check out the flounder scene. We only fished for a few hours using standard flounder bottom rigs with no bling attached & 5/0 hooks . The fish seemed to prefer strip baits over live bait and I had 4 in the box by the time Kevin caught his first one. The bite was decent and we caught fish up to 24 1/2 inches with our smallest flounder being 17 inches and with no throwbacks. I believe we could have managed limit with how consistent the bite was if the storm had not “ interrupted our little program “ ha ha ,but since lightening and thunder don’t blend too well when your on a boat, we left to head back to the ramp just to be safe . We do plan to tune in to this ‘ Classic’ station again so this report is to be continued .... Beth Synowiec

Ps What flu? 🙂
